Finding Jobs For 25,000 Veterans  On June 19, 2012 the American Logistics Association held their well-attended annual Congressional Caucus and Public Policy Forum on Capitol Hill for ALA member companies. One of the features of the conference was a presentation of the ALA’s participation in the First Lady’s Joining Forces Initiative to hire Veterans and military family members and it’s commitment hire 25,000 veterans and military spouses by December 2013. Attending the conference were the DoD’s Mr. Robert Gordon, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy, AAFES’ Tom Shull and Mike Howard, DeCA Director Mr. Jeu, NEXCOM CEO Robert Bianchi Admiral (retired), Rear Admiral David R. Callahan and Captain Robert McKenna with the Coast Guard, Cindy Whitman-Lacy with Marine Corps, Candace Wheeler with the Nati Wheeler with the National Military Family Association as well as industry leaders. Mr. Gordon spoke of the DoD’s efforts to hire family members and Veterans and complimented the ALA on its efforts to give these great employee candidates a helping hand. www.alajoiningforces.org |
